We had a great Saint Patrick’s week this year. We accomplished so much, read a ton, and had fun doing it! Mario actually cried when it was all over. He said this was the funnest week of school yet!
Day 3 was a shorter day, with Mario working on his Saint Patrick lapbook from Hands of a Child.

He ended up finishing it this year! This will be a great resource to look over in years to come!
Luigi and Peach practiced counting by 10′s and 5′s…

We matched uppercase ABC’s with lowercase, put them in order, picked out the vowels, spelled words we knew etc. with these cute shamrock alphabet letters that came in the lapbook from HOAC (link above). Baby Daisy loved running away with the cards!

On this day, we also got CHICKENS!!! We took a morning trip to the local farm supply store and the kids each picked one out.

They have grown so much already. Introducing Cinderella, Shaun the Sheep, Spotty, and Clucky!
Here is Luigi with Shaun the Sheep:

And Mario with Clucky!

On day 4, Luigi and Peach worked on writing some Saint Paddy’s words:

They had fun playing this Shamrock Phonics game found for FREE at File Folder Fun:

A close up. It’s really a cute game! Even Mario wanted to play with us!

Mario kept working on his lapbook. He learned several words in Gaelic, facts about Ireland, legends about Saint Patrick, and how he got his name. He learned there are more Irish people in America now than there are in Ireland. And he worked to memorize the vocabulary words.
Day 5 was a craft day for the littles. Luigi and Peach made glasses, a harp, and a Leaping Leprechaun!

Mario finished his lapbook (no pictures yet) and worked on a Rainbow acrostic. He also made the crafts. (And yes, he really is wearing the same shirt as before. He loves this shirt! ha!)

As we finished up our work, I hung everything on the bulletin board:

We really packed a lot into our week!

Books we read this week:
Let’s Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day
Jamie O’Rourke and the Big Potato
The Night Before Saint Patrick’s Day
We set leprechaun traps the night before the big day:

And Peach even set her own this year!

We didn’t catch one, but he set off all the traps, left green footprints everywhere, and left us a baggie of treats to enjoy.

Tricky Leprechaun! We’ll try again next year!
